Dancehall musician, Theophilus Nii Arday popularly known as Epixode, says he would have been done with music for good last year.

“When nothing is working for you in the music business, you feel like just giving up on something you love best and that was the state I got to last year,” Epixode told Graphic Showbiz last Saturday.

According to him, knowing that he was a good musician but nothing was working for him was a very challenging period for him.

Although a fine artist who could have made money from pursuing that career option, Epixode said he chose to do music because of his passion for it.

“I do paintings, which pays a lot but my first love is the music and that is why I cannot stop it. I went to Ghanata College of Arts where I had my first Degree in Arts and continued to NIIT where I did Digital Arts but I am not using those certificates because of the passion I have for music,” he said.

Epixode explained that his mum Jennifer, a former member of music group Wulomei told him not to give up because his hard work will one day pay off.

“My mum is my greatest inspiration because she did a lot when she was with Wulomei. Going through that difficult, she was the only one I could take inspiration from. She helps me write most of my lyrics and encourages me to always do positive music,” he said.

Known for songs like Body Body ft Mr Eazi, Dem Bad, Avatar, My Resolution and Dear Mama, Epixode said he is not giving up yet.

“The joy of fans hailing me anytime I perform gives me the urge not to give up but continue doing good music. I know my time will come soon. It’s just a matter of time and everything will be fine,” he said.
