Highlife is the main music genre West Africans are known for, but one way or the other it has either come to a standstill or is gradually fading off.

Real name John Adams, but popularly known for his stage name as ‘Bohyeba Kojo Adams’, is a multi-talented, young and versatile artist expressive in the genres of highlife, afrobeat and Afropop.

Bohyeba was born on July 12, 1993 in Israel, Accra but hails from Kotoku to Mr. William Adams and Rev. Mrs Grace Asabea and rose through the academic ranks, ending his education at Grace Hill International School located at Kotoku in the Greater Accra Region.

Since infancy, his first love in the world of entertainment was as an organist, although his passion was singing as his keen interest.

However, due to his initial talent of being an excelling organist, it has helped him to become a good composer and writer, which had eventually received several acknowledgments from people.

Bohyeba Kojo Adams has over the 6 years been recording songs, well-defined genre of melodies to be released at the end of this month (April) and subsequent months as a professional singer now.

His sound falls into a gap between highlife, contemporary highlife and afro-fusion but exudes creativity as it floats through different artistic spaces. Though his vocals are often likened to Bisa Kdei and Kwaisey Pee, as it seems most successful male vocalists of a similar style are, but Bohyeba Kojo Adams deserves to be discussed as a storm of his own.

The exceptional singer is eyeing collaboration with Ghanaian celebrated highlife singer Kwabena Kwabena, after which he became a fan and mentor for his impeccable vocal, stage performance and lyrics or delivery.

Despite not being a professional singer, he had opportunity to perform in some known venues across the capital and performed alongside with some renowned mainstream Ghanaian artists.

Bohyeba Kojo Adams has the ability to create distinct sections within a song, effectively making a single song feel like a collection of two or three. “Haters” which is yet to be released is a perfect example, changing feel numerous times without sounding contrived.
