Two of the staff of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital have been captured in investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ investigative documentary which was unveiled today,1oth August 2020. The staff named Divine Kumordzi and Thomas Osei were seen in the video selling sewed nose masks and PPE’s respectively at the hospital premises.
Anas’ investigation was ignited by colleagues of the culprits at Ridge Hospital who informed Anas about the happenings.
The management of Ridge Hospital has however suspended them in the form of punishment to these culprits.
Management of Ridge hospital took this decision after the two were allegedly captured in Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ latest investigative piece ‘Cashing on Covid’, for selling Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) belonging to a private individual within the premises of the Hospital.

“Even though these items do not belong to the hospital and do not also constitute the hospital’s COVID-19 stock, either donated or procured, their action constitutes a breach of the Ghana Health Service Code of Conduct,” management of the hospital indicated in a statement.
“As a hospital, we do not encourage these behaviours since it may adversely affect their output and also be misconstrued by the public as items of the facility,” the hospital added.
Ridge Hospital further indicated that Thomas Osei is serving a two-week suspension without salary for the inappropriate and unauthorized sale of PPEs on the hospital premises.
Divine Kumordzi, who is also serving a two-week suspension without salary, “will refund all monies realized with regards to the unauthorized and inappropriate sale of face masks on the hospital premises.”
