Petroleum tanker drivers , under the Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union have declared a sit-down strike over the deplorable state of the Tema Oil Refinery to Kpone Road.
The Chairman of the union, George Teye Nyaunu, in an interview with GRAPHIC ONLINE on Monday, June 26, 2023, fumed vehemently at government over its failure to address the road network problem in the country.
“For somebody to die, before we come to their rescue? So far as we are concerned, we said ‘NO’. We want authorities to attend to us. Now, if you look at the revenue that this enclave generates to government, I’m surprised to stand here today to see this road network in this condition. Honestly, out of 100% of revenue, I strongly believe that the oil sector generates about 50% to government.

Mr. Teye further revealed that all attempts by the membership to try to get government to heed to their cry have proven futile. He said the decision to lay down their tools is in the interest of the association.
“We are tired, and we can’t challenge authorities. It’s better we put our tools down”
