Former Black Stars colleagues Asamoah Gyan and Kevin-Prince Boateng have expressed divergent thoughts over the reason for the latter’s expulsion from the Black Stars camp during the 2014 World Cup.

Kevin-Prince Boateng, during a recent interview, revealed that despite the fact that he was fighting for the whole team, none of his teammates came to his aid when he and Sulley Muntary were sacked from the camp.

Boateng was referring to the tumultuous 2014 World Cup campaign in Brazil, when Ghanaian players agitated against the FA and government over unpaid bonuses.

Boateng led the revolt along with Sulley Muntari and the two were expelled from camp after a particularly heated confrontation.

KPB said the saddest part was when the incident happened, none of their teammates stood up to defend them even though they were fighting for the whole team.

After his remarks, Asamoah Gyan, who was team captain at the time, came out to defend himself.

He wrote: “Kevin’s case happened at the training grounds between him and the coach in front of everybody. So that was the coach’s decision cos coach felt Kevin disrespected him several times with his chose of words. One thing Kevin didn’t know is we defended him behind the scenes several times.

“But on that day , coach couldn’t take it anymore and reacted. That was the first time I saw Kwesi Appiah get angry and reacted. So Kevin’ case was the coach’s call. That’s the truth as the captain of the team,”

Still, Ghanaian cooked Gyan for not being bold enough to defend his teammates publicly.

“I’m a big fan Capito… But the whole team should’ve boycotted the match and you were the captain. It’s one of the reasons our supposed leaders take us all for granted; we don’t show solidarity,” one netizen reacted.
