Broadcast Journalist and ‘Good Evening’ host, Paul Adom Otchere, says it is “rubbish” to resort to Coup d’état for the mere fact that the cost of living has skyrocketed through the roof.

Paul Adom Otchere gave reasons for referring to the act as primitive and unpatriotic, especially in a worst and trying time as now.

“Parliamentary systems work in Ghana as they work in the united states, England and Switzerland and some people say they want Coup D’état because the price of Kenkey has gone up? Because the price of bread has gone up we should go and take a gun and shoot and do coup d’état. This kind of rubbish, excuse me to use that word, this is rubbish because of people’s personal ambition they stand up and say let’s do coup, because the price of bread has gone up.”

Paul Adom Otchere reiterates that democracy and the constitution of Ghana have been upheld to date, a clear example is an ad-hoc committee formed to probe the leaked tape purporting to oust the current Inspector General of Police.

“Ghana has come a very long way, this fourth republic constitution I dare say has been successful, I saw that in parliament, men who are angry at each other, men who want to put knife into each other are shaking hands in the interest of democracy. Public conduct and public condor. This is what Ghana should look like, we look like this and we have this and some people are able to say that there would be coup in Ghana like Niger. Did Niger show this kind of democratic achievement where the IGP appears before the committee and they are resolving the matter? People watch this and still think coup is better off? And some people say Ghana is ripe for coup? he added.
