AKA , multiple award winning South African rapper born Kiernan Forbes, has allegedly lost his life at Durban Florida on Friday 10th February,2023.

Reliable sources divulged that the rapper was shot by an unknown mugger.

Another person believed to be AKA’s bodyguard, was also wounded, while another unidentified person, who is understood to be a close friend of AKA,has also been shot dead.

It is understood that AKA was standing outside the Wish Restaurant when he was gunned down in a drive-by shooting.Two unknown cars are believed to have opened fire on the rapper.

Several police sources confirmed  that the rapper AKA had been shot dead.The shooting happened just before 10pm this Friday night.Police had cordoned off the area when an IOL team arrived at the scene .

Speaking to IOL, stunned patrons at a nearby restaurant confirmed AKA had been standing outside Wish when he was gunned down.

Garrith Jamieson, a spokesperson for ALS Paramedics said Florida Road has been closed off after the shooting incident

Jamieson said amongst the deceased was a “famous rapper”.

The identity of the second person shot dead is unknown at this stage, but he is understood to be a close friend of AKA.

According to social media posts, AKA was due to perform at a Durban night club, YUGO, where he was expected to perform as part of his birthday celebrations.

Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, known professionally as AKA, was a South African rapper. Born and raised in Cape Town, Forbes gained significance after releasing his single “Victory Lap” which was released from his debut studio album, Altar Ego.

Forbes continued his success by releasing studio albums which include Levels (2014), Touch My Blood (2018), Bhovamania (2020) and the collaborative album, Be Careful What You Wish For alongside Anatii (2017).

In April 2020 Forbes alongside vodka brand Cruz launched the watermelon-flavoured drink with his initial on the bottles. That same month, Forbes was featured as a special guest on WWE Live events which were held in Johannesburg and Cape Town. As for 2019, he was the roastee for the Comedy Central Roast special.
