Actor and farmer John Dumelo , on his Twitter page, has expressed readiness in cultivating wee, in the wake of Parliament’s passing of the Narcotics Control Commission Amendment Bill 2023
The actor, who is well-known for his love for agriculture and the need for government to make the sector attractive for the overwhelming Ghanaian youth, said he was excited about the passage of the Bill; adding that the act is a defining moment for the country.

“I’m very excited Parliament has passed the Narcotics Control Commission Amendment Bill 2023, which seeks to decriminalize the cultivation of cannabis for medicinal and industrial purposes. This is a defining moment in Ghana’s history.”
Mr. Dumelo further revealed his willingness to add the cultivation of cannabis to his farming profession when he said:
“As a farmer, adding the cultivation of cannabis to my portfolio for medicinal/ industrial purposes is definitely something I’m looking forward to. God bless Ghana” The father-of-two posted on his Twitter page

Many are those who are of the view that since the Bill has been passed, people who were arrested and jailed in the past for its possession should be exonerated. They believe this would decongest the prisons across the country.
