Ghanaian gospel legend Yaw Sarpong has reportedly passed away after battling a long-term illness that had kept him in and out of the hospital for nearly two years.
According to information obtained by hello-gh.com.com, Yaw Sarpong passed away at Emena Hospital this Tuesday, 20th January, 2026 in Kumasi, where he was receiving treatment.
His passing marks a devastating moment for the Ghanaian music industry, occurring just weeks after the loss of his vocal partner Maame Tiwaa, who died in December 2025.

Having struggled with the effects of a stroke suffered in early 2024, the “Wo How Ne Sen” composer leaves behind a monumental legacy of over four decades and more than 25 albums that bridged the gap between traditional highlife and spiritual worship.
